**Women in Art Across Centuries Exhibition Opens in Limassol**
Limassol, Cyprus - An exhibition titled "Channelled: Women in Art Across Centuries" has opened at the XeniArtSpace Gallery, showcasing the works of 17 prominent women artists from the 20th and 21st centuries. This marks the first time these artists' works have been presented in Cyprus. The exhibition was inaugurated by Communications Minister Evi Tsolaki, who attended the event alongside various guests from the art, culture, and media sectors.
The exhibition features a diverse array of artistic expressions, including painting, photography, textile art, sculpture, and installation. It draws from the personal collection of Xenia Kulbachevskaya, the founder of XeniArtSpace, and seeks to create a dialogue among historically significant figures in art while also spotlighting both established and emerging contemporary artists.
Among the featured artists are notable names such as Olga de Amaral, Tracey Emin, Leonor Fini, Lidia Masterkova, Leiko Ikemura, Lynne Drexler, Sabine Moritz, Hayv Kahraman, Inka Essenhigh, Teresa Solar Abboud, Emily Kraus, Élise Peroi, Jess Allen, Georg Wilson, Pia Krajewski, Maro Gorky, and Konstantina Krikzoni. The exhibition emphasizes the distinct artistic journeys of each participant, showcasing their unique cultural backgrounds and artistic practices.
Organizers of the exhibition have stated that the goal is not to define a singular female experience or aesthetic. Instead, they aim to highlight the diversity and multiplicity of independent artistic voices. The artists represented come from various countries and cultural traditions, reflecting a broad spectrum of perspectives within the contemporary art scene.
In her opening remarks, Minister Tsolaki expressed her enthusiasm for the exhibition, noting its significance as a pioneering cultural initiative in Cyprus. "I am particularly pleased to open this important exhibition, as it marks another pioneering cultural initiative, bringing together in Cyprus works by distinguished women artists from Europe, Asia, and the Americas," she stated. Tsolaki also emphasized the government's commitment to supporting the arts and acknowledged her personal connection to Limassol's cultural landscape.
The exhibition will be on display until March 5, 2027, at the XeniArtSpace Gallery, located in Trilogy Plaza, Limassol. The gallery is open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM and Saturday from 12 PM to 5 PM. For more information, visitors can access the gallery's website at www.xeniartspace.com.
