**Yellow Weather Warning Issued for Thunderstorms Across Cyprus**
The Cyprus Meteorological Department has issued a yellow weather warning for isolated but heavy thunderstorms, effective from 9 PM on Thursday until 5 PM on Friday. This alert comes as an area of low pressure is expected to impact the island, resulting in increased cloud cover, rainfall, and thunderstorms.
According to the meteorological forecast, the initial storms are anticipated to hit the western and northern regions of Cyprus before gradually moving to other areas. The rainfall during this period could be significant, with expected rates reaching between 35 to 55 millimeters per hour. In addition to heavy rain, the storms may also bring hail and strong winds, with gusts potentially reaching up to 8 Beaufort.
On Thursday, temperatures across Cyprus are projected to be quite warm, reaching 34°C inland, 30°C along the west coast, and 32°C in other regions. The higher mountainous areas will see cooler temperatures, around 26°C. However, with the onset of thunderstorms, a notable drop in temperatures is expected on Friday.
Following the stormy weather, the weekend is forecasted to be mainly clear, although there is a possibility of isolated afternoon rain or storms, particularly in the mountainous regions. As the weekend progresses, temperatures are expected to rise gradually, moving back towards average levels.
