Yemeni authorities announce launch of military operation to liberate capital The Yemeni government forces earlier regained control of the Dhubab area, located near the Bab el-Mandeb StraitDOHA, October 5. /TASS/. The Yemeni authorities launched the Dawn of Yemen military operation to liberate the capital, Sanaa, from the Houthi rebel movement Ansar Allah, Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, announced. "With God’s blessing, Operation Dawn of Yemen has begun to restore state institutions, liberate the capital, Sanaa, and put an end to the Houthi terrorists' coup," Yemen’s SABA news agency quoted him as saying. Earlier on Monday, the Yemeni government forces regained control of the Dhubab area, located near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to the Saudi Al Arabiya TV channel, the Yemeni units Al-Amaliqa (also known as the Southern Giants Brigades) and Dar’ al-Watan (also known as the Nation Shield Forces) drove Houthi forces out of the area. The TV channel pointed out that the troops flanked the enemy positions from the Kahboub Mountains with air support. According to Al Arabiya’s military sources, there was intense fighting in the area prior to the capture of Dhubab. As a result of the offensive, the Yemeni army was able to almost completely cut off the rebels’ supply lines.
