Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has escalated tensions with Belarus by issuing a direct ultimatum to President Alexander Lukashenko, threatening military action if Belarus does not comply with Ukraine's demands. This warning comes in the wake of a tragic incident involving a drone strike that targeted a bus carrying a children's soccer team from Belarus, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.
The drone strike occurred in Russia's Bryansk Region, injuring six minors and claiming the life of the wife of a coach accompanying the young athletes. In response to the attack, Lukashenko condemned what he described as provocations and demanded explanations from Kyiv, asserting that any attempts to involve Belarus in the ongoing conflict would come at a significant cost.
Zelensky, during a press conference in Kyiv, denied any responsibility for the drone strike and shifted the focus onto Belarus, urging Lukashenko to demonstrate his country’s peaceful intentions.
