This includes children born between May 1 and August 31, 2022, residing in the government-controlled areas of the Republic of Cyprus. Once families are approved for the subsidy, their children can attend any nursery school that participates in the program.
The financial support provided through this initiative is substantial. The monthly subsidy fully covers nursery school fees, with a maximum limit of €130 for children enrolled in public nursery schools and €200 for those in private institutions. Additionally, families with children under four years old can receive subsidies for both school fees and meals through a plan co-funded by the EU Thalia 2021-2027 social cohesion program. Eligible parents receiving child benefits in 2026 for children under four can apply for a subsidy that covers up to 80% of their monthly fees.
To apply for the subsidy, parents must first enroll their children in a participating nursery school. Following enrollment, they can submit an application online via the government portal or the designated subsidy website. It is important to note that only one parent can submit the application. In cases of separated or divorced parents, the child's legal guardian is responsible for the application process.
Upon submission, parents will receive immediate notification regarding the outcome of their application. If approved, subsidies will be disbursed monthly at the end of each month, starting from the month of application. However, nursery schools are required to verify the attendance of eligible children by June 2027. Should a child's attendance not be confirmed, parents may be required to repay any subsidies received during the year.
