**Bill Gates Claims Epstein Attempted to Blackmail Him Over Personal Affairs**
Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has alleged that the late financier Jeffrey Epstein attempted to blackmail him regarding his relationships with Russian women. This revelation emerged from recently released congressional testimony provided by Gates during a closed-door session with the U.S. House Oversight Committee on June 10, as part of an ongoing investigation into Epstein’s activities and connections with influential individuals.
The testimony was made public following increased scrutiny surrounding Gates after the release of documents related to Epstein by the U.S. Justice Department earlier this year. These documents, often referred to as the "Epstein files," contain various allegations, including claims concerning Gates's extramarital affairs, drug requests, and a purported sexually transmitted infection, as well as details about his interactions with Epstein on global health initiatives.
In his testimony, Gates acknowledged that he first reached out to Epstein in 2011, despite being aware of Epstein's previous criminal convictions related to sexual offenses. Gates stated that his intention was to leverage Epstein's connections to wealthy donors for the benefit of his global health projects. However, he claimed to have severed ties with Epstein in 2014 when Epstein failed to fulfill his promises of support.
According to Gates, after their relationship ended, Epstein acquired "sensitive information" about his personal life and attempted to use it to manipulate him back into his sphere of influence. Gates recounted, “Epstein was working to use information about my infidelities, in addition to many lies that he layered on top, to pressure me to reengage with him. He was unsuccessful in this effort.”
While Gates confirmed having had affairs with two adult Russian women, he emphasized that these relationships were not connected to Epstein's criminal activities. He has firmly denied allegations related to sexually transmitted infections and drug use, asserting that Epstein never introduced him to women for sexual encounters, arranged massages, or involved him in any illegal conduct. Gates also stated that he never visited Epstein's private properties, including his island or ranch.
The scrutiny surrounding Gates's association with Epstein has persisted, particularly given Epstein's lack of any known expertise in public health, despite his involvement in discussions regarding global health projects and data systems. Gates maintains that his meetings with Epstein were solely aimed at securing funding for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, although he noted that these discussions did not result in any charitable contributions.
Gates has expressed regret for his past association with Epstein, stating that he should never have engaged with him in the first place. This incident has reignited discussions about how Epstein managed to maintain relationships with a range of high-profile figures, including billionaires, politicians, and royalty, even after his 2008 conviction for sex offenses.
The investigation into Epstein's connections has also seen testimonies from other notable individuals, including former President Bill Clinton, ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and billionaire Les Wexner. The ongoing inquiry aims to shed light on the extent of Epstein's network and the influence he wielded over prominent figures.
As the investigation continues, the implications of Gates's testimony and the broader revelations from the Epstein files are likely to have lasting effects on public perceptions of those involved and the accountability of powerful individuals in relation to Epstein's actions.
