There is no real danger — this is a scheduled system test. Citizens may receive a test notification on their mobile phones at the abduction/missing person alert level. The notification will not be accompanied by the system’s characteristic loud tone, to avoid causing alarm, and will display the text “TEST – TEST – TEST” or “EXERCISE – EXERCISE – EXERCISE.” Citizens who wish to receive the test alert are asked to update their phone’s software and enable notifications for the abduction/missing person category. Settings names may vary depending on the device. How to enable CY-Alert on Android Step 1 — Update your software Go to Settings, select Search and type “Software update.” Make sure your phone has the latest software update installed. Step 2 — Find CY-Alert settings Once your device software is updated, CY-Alert settings will appear under Personal Safety and Emergency Features. Step 3 — Select your notifications Navigate to Wireless Emergency Alerts and choose the notifications you wish to receive. If the settings do not appear, go to Settings, select Security and Privacy, then Updates, then Google Play System Update. Restart your phone afterwards. How to enable CY-Alert on iOS Step 1 — Update your software Go to Settings, select General, then Software Update. Step 2 — Find notification settings Go to Settings, select Notifications — the relevant settings appear at the bottom of the screen. From there, select the notifications you wish to receive.
