According to a press release, the event is open to members, collaborators, friends of the Association and to the public with free entry. It “invites audiences to experience a curated selection of contemporary short films in a relaxed outdoor setting,” the press release said. The programme, developed by the Artistic Directors of ISFFC, explores themes of youth, sexuality, identity, relationships, family dynamics, and personal growth, according to the organisers. What’s on the programme? The screening on July 13, is bringing together four short films from Cyprus, Lebanon, Portugal, and Sweden. Curated by Diomedes Koufteros and Keti Papadema (Artistic Directors, ISFFC), “the selection moves between humour and tenderness, personal and political realities, exploring the many ways one may navigate growing up, belonging, and finding a place in the world,” the organisers said. The screening will begin at 20:30, featuring four internationally recognised short films: ● Overnight Coup (Marina Xenofontos, Cyprus, 2025 | 16′) A poetic journey through geography and memory, following a group of girls travelling from Limassol to Ayia Napa during a night that reveals the hidden layers of the landscapes they inhabit. ● The Devil and the Bicycle (Sharon Hakim, Lebanon/France, 2025 | 24′) As 13-year-old Yasma prepares for her First Communion, an unexpected coming-of-age story unfolds, balancing humour, faith, and self-discovery. ● Because Today is Saturday (Alice Eça Guimarães, Portugal/France/Spain, 2025 | 12′) An animated reflection on the invisible mental load carried by women, and the struggle to carve out space for creativity and personal freedom. ● Dear Mother (Theodor Solin, Sweden, 2025 | 13′) When Julius returns home to find a stranger occupying both his room and his mother’s affection, long-buried tensions begin to surface in this darkly comic family drama. After the screening, the Artistic Directors will have a short, interactive, discussion on the films, with music, drinks, and food by The Three Bakers for after.
