Larnaca accounted for 73,226 of those flights, with Paphos handling the remaining 23,870, according to the sum of Eurostat’s monthly data. August was the busiest month at both airports, with 8,619 flights at Larnaca and 2,961 at Paphos, for a combined total of 11,580. July was the second-busiest month, with 8,163 flights at Larnaca and 2,745 at Paphos, followed by September with 7,727 and 2,713 respectively. February saw the lowest combined total, with 3,387 flights at Larnaca and 905 at Paphos. Almost 7 million commercial flights across the EU Eurostat recorded 6.9 million commercial flights across the European Union in 2025, up 3.8 per cent from 6.7 million in 2024. The agency said flight numbers have risen continuously since 2021, returning 2025 to near pre-pandemic levels, when the EU recorded around 7 million commercial flights in 2019. Non-scheduled flights, including charters and other special flights, accounted for 8.5 per cent of all commercial flights in the EU in 2025. Eurostat said the highest shares of non-scheduled flights were recorded during the summer months. In June, when the EU saw 648,707 commercial flights in total, non-scheduled flights made up 11.2 per cent of the total. That share rose to 12.3 per cent in July, out of 690,855 flights, before settling at 11.4 per cent in August, out of 693,046 flights. Busiest EU airports Amsterdam Schiphol recorded the highest number of commercial flights among EU airports in 2025, with around 488,000 flights in total. Paris-Charles de Gaulle followed with 476,000 flights, and Frankfurt Airport with 457,000. Among the EU’s ten busiest airports by total commercial flights, Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” recorded the highest share of non-scheduled flights, at 5.2 per cent, followed by Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 4.8 per cent and Copenhagen-Kastrup with 4.1 per cent.
