**Cyprus Hoteliers Association to Elect New Leadership at 90th Anniversary AGM**
The Pancyprian Hoteliers Association (Pasyxe) is set to hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, July 7, in Nicosia. This year’s meeting is particularly significant as it marks the association's 90th anniversary and includes the election of a new leadership team for the term spanning 2026 to 2029.
Scheduled to commence at 12:15 PM, the AGM will feature the election of a new board of directors, with the current president, Thanos Michaelides, preparing to pass the reins to his successor. The meeting will also be addressed by President Nikos Christodoulides, who is expected to discuss the current state of the tourism sector in Cyprus, which is facing challenges due to regional instability and its impact on tourist arrivals.
In his address, Michaelides will reflect on the performance of the Cypriot tourism industry throughout 2025. He is anticipated to highlight the difficulties posed by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and emphasize the necessity for a comprehensive strategy to navigate these challenges. Additionally, he will present proposals aimed at enhancing and upgrading Cyprus's tourism offerings, as hoteliers strive to maintain the island's competitiveness in a challenging regional landscape.
The AGM will also serve as a platform to honor member families who have made significant contributions to the Cypriot hotel industry over the years. In a special recognition, Pasyxe will present an honorary distinction to the Church of Cyprus for its longstanding role in promoting and developing tourism in the region. Archbishop Georgios is expected to attend the meeting to accept this award.
The event will bring together a diverse group of attendees, including government officials, members of parliament, representatives from the diplomatic corps, foreign ambassadors, business leaders, and Pasyxe member hoteliers. This gathering underscores the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in the tourism sector, especially as Cyprus navigates through a period marked by uncertainties.
As the tourism industry plays a vital role in Cyprus's economy, the outcomes of this AGM and the new leadership's vision will be closely watched by industry stakeholders and the public alike. The decisions made during this pivotal meeting could shape the future trajectory of Cypriot tourism in the years to come.
