This year’s Christmas Villages will run from November 21, 2026 to January 6, 2027. The selection follows an evaluation process for applications submitted under the Grant Scheme for Community and Municipal Councils along the “Heartland of Legends” route. The scheme continues the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s initiative to organise Christmas Villages in municipalities and communities, an event the ministry says has been successful and well received over the past five years. What to expect The selected locations will be decorated for the festive season and will include wooden stalls selling local products and handicrafts, hands-on craft and food-and-wine workshops, nature activities such as walking trails and cycling, guided village tours and other surprises. The Deputy Ministry’s stated aim is for the Christmas Villages, with their local character, to be enriched further each year, so they become a draw for both local and foreign visitors.
