The storm broke out shortly after 1pm on Friday and was intense, causing problems mainly on the roads. Worst hit: Aradippou and Agii Anargyri-Livadia The worst problems were recorded in Aradippou and the Agii Anargyri-Livadia area. The Fire Service said that, as of 2pm, it had responded to several incidents linked to the severe weather in the Aradippou area, including pumping water from flooded basements and moving a vehicle from a flooded road. Aradippou mayor Christodoulos Partou told philenews that the worst problems were on Michalakis Paridi and Dionysiou Solomou streets, where at least one house has been reported flooded, along with flooded roads elsewhere in Aradippou. Partou said crews from the municipality and the Larnaca District Local Government Organisation were on site clearing blocked drains. Flooding also hit central Larnaca In Larnaca, roads flooded in the Agii Anargyri area near the Larnaca Technical School, on Alexandrou Panagouli Avenue in Livadia, and in parts of the city centre and Faneromeni. Crews from Larnaca Municipality and the Larnaca District Local Government Organisation were working at several points across the city to clear drains. Severe weather has been affecting Cyprus since Thursday evening, with a yellow weather warning in force until 5pm on Friday.
