In a continued effort to combat childhood cancer, Destination Fitness and the Nicholas Zoe Foundation are launching the “Move for Hope” campaign for the second consecutive year. This month-long initiative coincides with Gold September, recognized as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and aims to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research.

Throughout September, the campaign will engage athletes, gym members, local businesses, and the broader community to support pioneering research at Boston Children’s Hospital, funded by the Nicholas Zoe Foundation. The research focuses on improving the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer, striving for quicker diagnoses and less invasive treatment options.

Nicos Mavroudes, the founder of Destination Fitness, expressed the mission behind the campaign, stating, “At Destination Fitness, we move for hope—towards a destination where no child suffers.” He emphasized the importance of transforming the discipline and resilience cultivated through physical training into meaningful support for children affected by cancer. Mavroudes highlighted that every effort, whether it be a step taken, a kilometer run, or a donation made, contributes to making a significant impact.

The campaign's central theme, “Strength-to-Strength,” encourages participants to turn their physical movement into actionable support for the cause. Individuals are invited to run, walk, or challenge themselves throughout the month, all while raising essential funds and awareness for the Nicholas Zoe Foundation.

Key activities planned for the campaign include the ambitious 10,000 km Treadmill Challenge, where members of Destination Fitness will collectively aim to complete 10,000 kilometers during September. Additionally, the Destination Olympus Ultra Run is scheduled for September 26–27, 2026, featuring eight elite runners who will embark on an 85-kilometer journey from Destination Fitness in Nicosia to Mount Olympus, the highest peak in Cyprus. This challenging route involves a total elevation gain of 2,160 meters and will see the runners carrying the Move More Torch, symbolizing endurance, determination, and hope.

The campaign invites the public and local businesses to participate by sponsoring kilometers along the ultra run route, with each sponsorship contributing to funding vital research efforts. In-gym fundraising initiatives will also be in place, including a €1 donation for every new membership acquired during September, the introduction of a special Golden Smoothie at the Destination Fitness bar—where all net proceeds will go to the Foundation—and the sale of limited-edition “We Move for Hope” training towels.

Community members can support the initiative by sponsoring kilometers, making donations through the Nicholas Zoe Foundation's website, purchasing campaign merchandise, or visiting Destination Fitness throughout the month of September.

The overarching message of the campaign is clear: “We Move for Hope. Join the movement. And let every contribution bring us closer to the only Destination that matters: a future where no child suffers.” Through collective effort and community engagement, Destination Fitness and the Nicholas Zoe Foundation aim to make a meaningful impact in the fight against childhood cancer.
