**SELK and Let’s Do It! Cyprus Collaborate for Beach Clean-Up in Limassol**
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (SELK) is set to host a voluntary beach clean-up event in Limassol on Sunday, September 20, 2026. This initiative, part of SELK's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to promote sustainable development and environmental protection in collaboration with Let’s Do It! Cyprus.
The clean-up will take place at the beach adjacent to Gazebo Mare and Aktaia Street in the Karnagio area of Limassol. The event is part of the global World Cleanup Day, organized by Let’s Do It! World, which encourages citizen participation in environmental initiatives worldwide.
The program will run from 10 AM to 1 PM, featuring a blend of educational and practical activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues. Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis is expected to attend the event, underscoring the local government's support for community-driven environmental initiatives.
The day will commence with a welcome address from SELK’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and its Limassol and Paphos Coordinating Committee. Following this, Panos Demetriou, Head of CSR at Let’s Do It! Cyprus, will present the initiative’s philosophy and conduct an interactive seminar focusing on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This session aims to educate participants on the importance of sustainability and the role individuals can play in achieving these goals.
In addition to the educational components, attendees will also participate in a First Aid and beach safety seminar led by trainers from the Cyprus Lifesaving Federation. This session will cover essential safety practices for beachgoers, while the Cyprus Fire Service will provide insights on fire prevention and environmental protection, tailored for both children and adults.
To make the event more engaging, an optional Zumba and dance program for all ages will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM. The main beach clean-up will commence at 12:15 PM and continue until 1 PM. Participants who choose not to join the Zumba session can begin cleaning the beach from 11:30 AM.
SELK will supply participants with necessary materials for the clean-up, including water, clean-up bags, gloves, refreshments, and snacks. Children will also receive gifts as a token of appreciation for their involvement. Attendees are encouraged to bring hats and sunscreen to protect themselves from the sun during the event.
Participation in the clean-up is free, but prior registration is required. This initiative not only aims to clean the coastline but also seeks to foster a sense of community and responsibility towards the environment among participants.
