The festival is billing this year’s production as an innovative and visually striking reimagining of the classic opera, transporting its timeless story into a symbolic and revelatory world. The production brings together Armenia’s National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet “Alexander Spendiaryan” and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, alongside distinguished soloists from Armenia and abroad, in what organisers describe as a major international collaboration. More than 150 performers, including leading opera singers, musicians and dancers, will take the stage under the Paphos night sky, in front of the Ancient Castle. “L’Elisir d’Amore” is regarded as one of opera’s most beloved, romantic and entertaining works, with a plot centred on love, naivety and the power of self-suggestion. Music direction is in the hands of internationally renowned conductor Karen Durgaryan, who has spent fifteen years as chief conductor of the Armenian National Opera and built a career with some of the world’s leading opera houses and symphony orchestras. Performances will feature surtitles in both Greek and English and begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are available through the Ticketmaster.cy platform, by phone on 7777040, and at ACS courier branches. From August 18, a box office will also operate daily from 5pm to 10pm at Limanaki, outside the performance venue.
