In a coordinated effort to combat petty crime, the Cyprus police conducted extensive overnight operations resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals. According to a police statement released on Monday, officers stopped a total of 579 vehicles during the operations and checked 749 individuals. Additionally, inspections were carried out at 43 premises, leading to four citations being issued for various infractions found during these checks.
Traffic enforcement was a significant focus of the operations, resulting in a total of 377 citations issued to drivers. Speeding violations were the most common, with 118 citations attributed to this offense. In an effort to enhance road safety, officers conducted 174 breathalyser tests, which resulted in nine citations for driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, eight preliminary drug tests were administered, with one individual testing positive for illegal substances.
