Severe storms that swept across Cyprus on Saturday resulted in the diversion of eleven flights that were scheduled to land on the island. The inclement weather prompted airlines to reroute their aircraft to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

According to Maria Kouroupi, the director of communications for Hermes Airports, the situation began to stabilize later in the day as the storms moved away from the area. “Now that the severe weather is moving away, the aircraft are leaving the airports where they were temporarily parked and coming to Cyprus,” Kouroupi explained.
The disruptions affected various flights, with five scheduled to land at Larnaca airport being diverted to Paphos. Additionally, two flights—one originally bound for Larnaca and another for Paphos—were redirected to Rhodes.
By Saturday afternoon, operations at the airports returned to normal, allowing for the resumption of regular flight schedules.
