**Erhurman Discharged from Hospital; Wife Expresses Gratitude for Support**
Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman was discharged from the hospital on Saturday morning after spending a night under observation due to a health incident that occurred during an art exhibition on Friday. According to a statement from his office, Erhurman's overall condition is reported to be "good," and he is expected to rest for a period as per his doctors' recommendations.
Erhurman's wife, Nilden Bektas Erhurman, shared her relief in the early hours of Saturday, stating, "both Tufan and that beautiful heart of his are well." She also took the opportunity to thank those who offered their well-wishes following her husband's sudden illness.
The incident unfolded at the Quirini bastion mansion in Nicosia's old town, where the art exhibition was taking place. An ambulance was called to the scene around 9 PM on Friday after Erhurman experienced a drop in blood pressure. He was subsequently transported to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu hospital in northern Nicosia for further evaluation.
Health Minister Hakan Dincyurek provided details of Erhurman's condition while he was hospitalized. He explained that after initial assessments, blood tests were conducted, and examinations of the aorta were performed. A contrast-enhanced CT scan showed no anomalies in the aorta. As a precautionary measure, an emergency angiography was also carried out, which yielded no concerning findings.
Messages of support poured in for Erhurman from various officials, including Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, who had met with him earlier on Friday in Nicosia. Yilmaz expressed his sadness upon learning of Erhurman's health issue and extended wishes for a speedy recovery. Similarly, Turkish Cypriot ‘prime minister’ Unal Ustel and ‘deputy prime minister’ Fikri Ataoglu both conveyed their hopes for Erhurman's quick return to health and duties. Ustel emphasized, “It is our greatest wish that Erhurman continues his work in good health,” while Ataoglu expressed optimism for his recovery.
The Turkish Cypriot parliament speaker, Ziya Ozturkler, also sent his best wishes, hoping for Erhurman's swift recovery from the recent illness.
During his stay in the hospital, Erhurman received visits from a number of high-ranking officials, including Ustel, Ozturkler, and the Turkish ambassador in Nicosia, Ali Murat Basceri, as well as numerous members of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), which he led from 2016 until his election last October.
The Quirini bastion mansion, where the health incident occurred, served as the official residence for Turkish Cypriot leaders until the opening of a new official residence in the northern sector of the Nicosia suburb of Ayios Dhometios last year.
As Erhurman recuperates, the focus remains on his health and the support from the community and political figures, reflecting the solidarity among the leadership during this time.
