**ETYFA Launches Tender to Complete Vasilikos LNG Terminal**
The Natural Gas Infrastructure Company of Cyprus (ETYFA) has officially announced the launch of a tender aimed at completing the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Import Terminal Project at Vasilikos. This significant step comes two years after the previous contract with the Chinese contractor China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company (CPP) was unilaterally terminated.
The original contract, awarded in 2019, was dissolved on July 18, 2024, prompting ETYFA to seek new contractors to carry out the remaining works on the project. The newly released tender follows a Restricted Procedure, which includes a prequalification stage for interested contractors. This means that companies wishing to participate must first submit an application to demonstrate their qualifications. Only those who meet the prequalification criteria will be invited to submit comprehensive technical and financial proposals.
The estimated cost for the remaining works at the Vasilikos LNG terminal is approximately €180 million, and the anticipated duration for the construction contract is around two years. The scope of the project encompasses a variety of essential services and works, including:
- Completion of the LNG terminal
- Construction works specifically for the oil and gas industry
- Development of gas terminal facilities
- Offshore fabrication
- Engineering, architectural, inspection, and technical support services
- Specialized services within the oil and gas sector
In a notable aspect of the tender process, ETYFA will award the contract based on the Best Price–Quality Ratio. This approach allows the company to prioritize technical quality over merely selecting the lowest financial bid, thereby ensuring that the selected contractor meets high standards of performance and reliability.
Interested parties are encouraged to submit any questions or requests for clarification regarding the tender to ETYFA by August 26, 2026. The deadline for the submission of bids is set for September 9, 2026, at noon.
