Europe’s LNG imports hit four-month high in September In September, LNG flows from European terminals into the EU gas transmission system totaled around 10.6 bln cubic metersMOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. Europe imported the largest volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in four months in September amid the need to accelerate the replenishment of gas inventories ahead of winter, according to TASS calculations based on data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE). In September, LNG flows from European terminals into the EU gas transmission system totaled around 10.6 bln cubic meters, up 15% from August but down 6% compared with September 2025. In January-September 2026, LNG flows from terminals into Europe’s gas transmission system slowed to around 101 bln cubic meters, 3% less than in the same period of 2025. LNG accounted for the largest share of Europe’s gas supplies in January-September at 42.2%, according to data from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) as of September 29. Supplies from the North Sea, primarily Norwegian gas, ranked second with a 38.7% share, followed by gas supplies from North Africa at 9.6% and supplies from the east at 6%, including Russian gas, gas supplies from Ukraine, and withdrawals by European companies of their own gas from Ukrainian storage facilities.
