**Fire Near Limnatis Contained by Firefighters**
A wildfire that erupted in the Limassol district, specifically between the villages of Lania and Limnatis, has been successfully contained by firefighting teams, according to Glafkos Kyriacou, a spokesperson for the forestry department. The incident, which raised concerns among local residents, was addressed swiftly by emergency services.
Upon receiving the alarm, the forestry department mobilized a significant response team, deploying seven fire engines, a tanker, two earth movers, and a total of 45 forest firefighters to combat the flames. In addition to ground efforts, the fire brigade also utilized aerial resources, dispatching two firefighting helicopters and three firefighting planes to assist in controlling the blaze from above.
Kyriacou reported that the firefighting teams were able to get ahead of the fire, which primarily affected agricultural land and wild vegetation in the vicinity. “Fortunately, we got ahead of the fire, and it has been contained,” he stated, highlighting the effectiveness of the coordinated response.
