**Five Hectares of Vegetation Burnt in Arsos Fire**
A fire that erupted in the village of Arsos on Thursday resulted in the destruction of five hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation, and waste materials, including large piles of rubbish. The incident has raised concerns among local authorities about the potential for malicious intent behind the blaze.
Community leader Yiannakis Yiannakis expressed his suspicions regarding the cause of the fire, suggesting that it may have been deliberately set. He noted that there had been recent reports of "pallet loads of clothing pressed into cubes" being transported to the old garbage dump in the area. This has led to speculation about the connection between these activities and the fire.
In a statement made on Friday, Yiannakis revealed that investigators had discovered logos of two companies in a box and an envelope at the site of the fire. These items have been forwarded to the police for further examination, as authorities seek to determine if there is any link between the companies and the incident.
The fire brigade responded promptly to the emergency call, arriving at the scene around 3 PM. A total of eight fire engines, along with six vehicles from the forestry department, were deployed to combat the flames. After several hours of effort, the fire was brought under full control by 6 PM.
