Doctors spent 48 minutes trying to resuscitate the infant on Friday night, but were unable to revive her, authorities said. According to Cretalive, medical staff at the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI) fought a massive battle on Friday evening to save the 18-month-old girl after her grandfather rushed her to the facility. The infant, of Roma descent, had been feeling unwell for the past few days. Police sources indicate that the child had been examined by a pediatrician a few days earlier and was prescribed medical treatment. However, her condition deteriorated. Her 45-year-old grandfather, who was caring for her because her parents work outside of Crete, transported his granddaughter to the University Hospital. Medical staff at the institution discovered that the child presented a septic clinical image.
