The sale attracted interest from collectors in Cyprus and abroad, with several works significantly exceeding their pre-sale estimates. Among the most notable results was a portrait of Otto of Greece attributed to Joseph Karl Stieler (1781–1858), which achieved €25,000 under the hammer against an estimate of €9,000–€15,000. The work attracted strong bidding and emerged as one of the leading results of the sale. Equally significant was a copy of the New Testament presented to Ioannis Kapodistrias shortly before his assassination in 1831. Combining exceptional historical provenance with national significance, the volume sold for €10,000 against an estimate of €4,000–€6,000. The sale also demonstrated sustained collector interest in Cypriot painting. Two important works by George Pol Georghiou found buyers, while works by Christoforos Savva achieved strong results. Particularly notable was Landscape (1960), a small mixed-media composition by Savva, which realised €1,400 against an estimate of €450–€750. Among the strongest performances of the sale was a work by Loukia Nicolaidou-Vassiliou, which achieved €5,500 against an estimate of €950–€1,500, reflecting strong collector interest in the work of one of the earliest professional women painters in Cyprus. The sculpture section also attracted attention, with Ioannis Antoniou’s ceramic sculpture Suitcase (1989) exceeding its estimate to realise €1,900, suggesting renewed interest in the work of the Cypriot sculptor. Rare eighteenth-century textiles from Skyros, Naxos and Siphnos attracted enthusiastic bidding and sold in their entirety. The Skyros embroidery achieved €4,000 against an estimate of €2,500–€3,500, while the exceptionally rare Siphnos curtain fragment realised €3,000 against an estimate of €1,500–€2,000. Commenting on the results, Cypria Auctions noted the strong interest shown by collectors in works distinguished by rarity, provenance, cultural significance and historical importance. The Summer Sale brought together approximately 160 lots spanning Cypriot, Greek and European art, sculpture, historical artefacts and textiles, offering collectors a broad overview of artistic and cultural production across the Eastern Mediterranean.
