**Hunters’ Association Alleges Harassment by Activists**
The Cyprus Hunters Association has publicly denounced what it describes as harassment directed towards legal hunters by activist groups. In a statement released on Tuesday, the association claimed that these actions have created “unnecessary tensions” that could jeopardize the safety of individuals involved in hunting activities.
For years, the association has been vocal about the challenges faced by legal hunters, citing ongoing harassment from both individuals and organized groups. The association's comments follow remarks made by Linos Papayiannis, an MP from the National Popular Front (ELAM) and chairman of the House environment committee. On Monday, Papayiannis expressed his intention to exclude anti-hunting activists from an upcoming committee debate, stating that their actions had crossed “the limits of what is tolerable and permissible.”
In light of these developments, the Hunters Association has reached out to members of parliament, urging them to enhance environmental protection efforts and safeguard wildlife.
