**Limassol-Paphos Motorway Tunnel Scheduled for Maintenance Closure Next Week**
The Limassol-Paphos motorway tunnel, specifically the section leading towards Paphos, will undergo maintenance from Monday, June 22, to Friday, June 26. The public works department announced this closure on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of the maintenance work for the safety and functionality of the tunnel.
The maintenance activities will focus on the electromechanical installations within the tunnel. According to the Limassol district engineer’s office, these essential works will be conducted daily from 8 AM to 7 PM by the electromechanical services department.
As a result of the maintenance, the tunnel in the direction of Paphos will be completely closed to traffic. To accommodate the flow of vehicles during this period, motorists will be diverted to the opposite carriageway, which will be adjusted to operate with two-way traffic.
Authorities are advising drivers to exercise caution while navigating the area. Motorists are encouraged to adhere to temporary road signs and follow the directions provided by police officers stationed near the construction zone. This guidance is crucial to ensure the safety of both drivers and maintenance personnel during the operation.
The maintenance works are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that the infrastructure of the Limassol-Paphos motorway remains safe and reliable for all users. The public works department is committed to minimizing disruptions while prioritizing the necessary upkeep of vital transport routes.
Motorists planning to travel in the area during the maintenance period are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to remain vigilant for any changes in traffic conditions.
