**Little Heroes Marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with Community Events**
The Little Heroes Foundation recently organized two significant events in Cyprus to raise awareness about childhood cancer, coinciding with Gold September, the international month dedicated to this cause. These initiatives took place last week, highlighting the importance of community support for children battling cancer and their families.
On September 25, several prominent public buildings across Cyprus were illuminated with the Little Heroes emblem. Notable landmarks included the presidential palace, the old Nicosia town hall located in Eleftheria Square, Limassol town hall, Limassol municipal library, Larnaca municipal art gallery, and Paphos town hall. This visual display served as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by young patients and the necessity for societal support.
The foundation emphasized that the illumination of these buildings was not merely a symbolic gesture but a call to action for the community to rally around families affected by childhood cancer. Loucas Fourlas, the founder of the Little Heroes Foundation, stated, “Because no child should have to fight alone,” underscoring the foundation's mission to ensure that children and their families receive the necessary support during challenging times.
The following day, September 26, a heartwarming event took place at the pediatric oncology department of Makarios Hospital in Nicosia. Approximately 100 cub scouts from the Cyprus Scouts Association, accompanied by the Limassol district scout band, visited the hospital to show their support for young patients undergoing treatment. The scouts engaged the children in various activities, including singing, dancing, and a bubble display, creating a festive atmosphere meant to uplift the spirits of those receiving care.
The Little Heroes Foundation expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the illumination initiative, including local authorities and the Cyprus Scouts Association, as well as the Limassol district band. The foundation's efforts are part of a broader mission to raise awareness and foster a supportive community for children facing the challenges of cancer.
