According to information philenews obtained from police, he is now in stable condition in the hospital’s neurosurgical department. His seven-year-old daughter, who suffered a head injury and was hospitalised at Makarios Hospital, was discharged a few days ago. A reminder of how the accident happened: police said a jet ski driven by a 17-year-old, with an 18-year-old passenger, collided under circumstances still being investigated with a towed inflatable “sofa”-style tube. The inflatable was carrying five people from the same family: two men, aged 48 and 43, and three children aged 13, 11 and seven. The 48-year-old and his seven-year-old daughter were seriously injured in the collision. According to Famagusta Police, the investigation is continuing, with further investigative work still needed before a decision is made on whether to prosecute anyone. Statements have already been taken from those involved, while investigators are currently examining the speed the two vessels were travelling at and their mechanical condition. The Deputy Ministry of Shipping is assisting police, as the authority responsible for licensing speedboats and operator licences. The jet ski was being driven without a licence by the 17-year-old, though it appears to have originally been rented to the 18-year-old.
