**Mourinho Confident in Real Madrid's Future Without Rodri Following Transfer to Barcelona**
Jose Mourinho, the newly reinstated manager of Real Madrid, has expressed confidence in his team's capabilities despite the recent transfer of Spanish midfielder Rodri to their arch-rivals, Barcelona. In an interview with the television program El Chiringuito, Mourinho acknowledged that Real Madrid had made "a very good offer" to sign Rodri, who officially joined Barcelona after a transfer from Manchester City.
Mourinho revealed that he had engaged in discussions with Rodri on two occasions as the club explored the possibility of adding the highly regarded midfielder to their squad. However, he noted that Rodri seemed uncertain about his future, which ultimately influenced Mourinho's perception of the potential signing. "The club contacted him, but he had some doubts," Mourinho stated. "What I think happened is that his doubts have created doubts for me. He’s an extraordinary player and was very correct with us. But Real Madrid is of such a stature that it can’t have players who think twice about being with the club."
Despite the disappointment of missing out on Rodri, Mourinho emphasized that Real Madrid has a wealth of talent and solutions within their current squad. "I don’t need Rodri. We have solutions, quality players," he asserted, downplaying the significance of Barcelona's acquisition of the midfielder. He further remarked, "Victories are won on the field; they are won with titles," suggesting that the club's success is not solely dependent on individual signings.
Mourinho's comments come on the heels of a challenging period for Real Madrid, having experienced two consecutive seasons without a major title. In response, the club has made several key signings during the transfer window, including players such as Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, and Yan Diomande. These additions are aimed at bolstering the squad as they prepare for the upcoming La Liga season.
When asked about the possibility of further signings before the transfer window closes, Mourinho indicated that the club's current business is likely concluded. "I’m not saying there won’t be any more signings because the market is still open, but if you ask me directly if it’s closed [for Madrid], yes, it’s closed," he stated.
Real Madrid is set to kick off their La Liga campaign on Saturday against Espanyol, and Mourinho will be looking to lead the team to a successful season as they aim to reclaim their status as one of the top clubs in Spain and Europe.
