**New Service Hub Opens in Remote Kato Pyrgos**
Kato Pyrgos Tillyria has welcomed a new service hub aimed at enhancing access to essential services for residents of remote areas. The inauguration of the facility took place on Friday, with officials highlighting its significance in bridging the gap between local communities and government services.
Constantinos Yiorkadjis, president of the Nicosia district government (EOA), emphasized the hub's strategic staffing, noting that it was "consciously and deliberately" staffed by individuals from the local area. This decision reflects a commitment to ensuring that geographical barriers do not hinder residents' access to necessary services. "Geographical location cannot be an obstacle to equal access," Yiorkadjis stated during the opening ceremony, underscoring the importance of local engagement in public service delivery.
The establishment of the Kato Pyrgos service hub is part of broader local administration reforms designed to facilitate easier access to government services. Yiorkadjis reported that the Nicosia EOA has already invested €200,000 in upgrading the area's water supply network. This investment includes the cleaning of the local reservoir, ensuring that the stored water is suitable for irrigation purposes.
In addition to water supply improvements, plans are in place for a new sewerage system in Kato Pyrgos. Yiorkadjis announced that a €10 million tender for the construction of this system will be launched soon, further enhancing the infrastructure and living conditions in the area.
Nicos Kleanthous, the head of the Tillyria complex of communities and president of the Kato Pyrgos community, expressed his enthusiasm for the new service hub, describing it as a significant development that embodies "respect to the people of the area." He highlighted the hub's potential to reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for services, thereby saving time and providing immediate access to the resources offered by the Nicosia EOA.
