The operation resulted in the seizure of various illegal drugs, including ecstasy, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
The incident began shortly after 1 PM when YKAN officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by the 29-year-old on the Alambra-Mosfiloti road. The officers were acting on information related to an ongoing investigation. Instead of complying, the driver rammed his car into two police vehicles and fled the scene.
Following the initial escape, police were able to track the suspect to the Marki area, where he switched to a second vehicle driven by the 31-year-old. The pair attempted to evade a police checkpoint again, crashing into another police vehicle in the process. During the subsequent confrontation, the 29-year-old physically assaulted police officers, leading to his immediate arrest. The 31-year-old was also taken into custody after officers discovered a knife in his vehicle.
In the course of their investigation, YKAN officers conducted searches in the vicinity, acting on intelligence that suggested the pair had concealed drugs in nearby locations. Their efforts yielded substantial quantities of narcotics, including:
- 170 ecstasy pills, weighing a total of 85 grams
- A white powder resembling cocaine, weighing approximately 40 grams
- A white crystalline substance resembling methamphetamine, weighing around 400 grams
Additionally, two precision electronic scales that tested positive for traces of cocaine were confiscated.
Further searches were conducted at a residence believed to be associated with the suspects. Authorities recovered €4,150 in cash, a mobile phone, a tablet computer, and two drones, all of which will undergo examination as part of the investigation.
Both suspects have been charged with multiple offenses, including drug possession, possession with intent to supply, money laundering from illegal activities, and various traffic violations. Following their arrests, warrants were issued, and they have since been remanded in custody as the investigation continues.
