**Phedonos Case Postponed Due to Witness Illness**
The trial of suspended Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos has been postponed due to the illness of a key prosecution witness. The proceedings, which were set to take place on Tuesday, will now resume next week at the Paphos criminal court.
The court is expected to hear further testimony from prosecution witnesses, followed by cross-examinations conducted by defense attorneys Christos Pourgouridis and Nontas Korakidis. Notably, the complainant's testimony remains pending, and she is anticipated to provide her account via video conference during the next session.
Phedonos faces serious charges, including five counts related to rape, indecent assault against a woman, and administering a drug capable of incapacitating a person. He has consistently denied all allegations made against him.
Once the prosecution concludes its presentation, the court will evaluate whether sufficient evidence has been provided to establish a prima facie case, which would allow the trial to progress to the next phase.
The trial is currently being held behind closed doors, following a request from the prosecuting authority, which aims to protect the privacy of the individuals involved.
