The Cybercrime Subdivision launched the investigation after receiving information that a user of an online messaging application had searched for child sexual abuse material. Investigators identified evidence against the 41-year-old while trying to establish the suspect’s identity, police said. A court warrant was issued for his arrest and he was detained shortly after 3.30 pm. Police searched his home under a separate court warrant and seized a laptop, three mobile phones and two external hard drives for forensic examination. The man remains in custody as police continue their investigation.
