**Preparatory Meetings Ahead of Holguin Visit**
The ongoing dialogue between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides continues to progress as both communities engage in preparatory meetings with the United Nations in anticipation of the visit from UN Special Envoy Maria Angela Holguin later this month.
Sources speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) confirmed that these meetings are focused on addressing "substantive issues" related to the long-standing Cyprus problem. The discussions are aimed at laying the groundwork for Holguin's visit, which is scheduled for later in July.
In her previous engagement with the island, Holguin visited in early June, where she met with key figures including Greek Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman, as well as representatives from various civil society groups. During that visit, she emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunity for a resolution to the ongoing division of the island.
Following her time in Cyprus, Holguin is set to travel to Brussels for further discussions, underscoring the international dimension of the efforts to address the Cyprus issue.
The meetings between the two sides and the UN represent a critical step in the ongoing peace process, as stakeholders seek to navigate the complexities of the situation and work towards a viable solution.
