**Red Cross Launches Back-to-School Donation Drive for Vulnerable Families**
The Cyprus Red Cross has initiated a nationwide campaign aimed at supporting children from financially vulnerable families as they prepare for the upcoming academic year. The campaign, titled “Back to School – With Many Children’s Smiles,” commenced on July 20 and will continue until September 4, 2023.
The primary goal of this initiative is to collect essential school supplies that will help ensure that children in need have the necessary items for a successful start to the school year. The Red Cross is appealing to the public to contribute by donating new school bags, stationery—such as notebooks, pencil cases, and writing materials—as well as new or gently used school uniforms and clothing that do not feature logos.
All collected items will be distributed directly to schoolchildren from vulnerable families, allowing them to begin the academic year on equal footing with their peers. The organization emphasizes the importance of community support in making this initiative a success, highlighting that every contribution can make a significant difference in a child's educational experience.
Donations can be made at various Cyprus Red Cross branch offices located throughout the island. In Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos, donations are accepted from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM. In Larnaca and Famagusta, the donation hours are from 9:00 AM to noon on weekdays, while in Polis Chrysochous, donations are welcome on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
