Russia’s Andreeva reaches China Open quarterfinals clearing past Ukrainian Snigur The 4th-seeded Russian defeated the Ukrainian 6:2, 6:2MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. /TASS/. Russia’s top female tennis player Mirra Andreeva has advanced through the fourth round of the 2026 China Open tennis tournament by defeating Ukraine’s Daria Snigur. The 4th-seeded Russian defeated the Ukrainian 6:2, 6:2 and is now set to face off in the next round against the winner of a match between Czech Linda Noskova and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova. The result helped Andreeva qualify for the WTA Finals after her advance to the China Open quarterfinals. Andreeva, 19, is currently No. 5 in the WTA rankings. She won the French Open in June, claiming her sixth WTA title. At the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, she also took silver in the women’s doubles, partnering with Diana Shnaider. Snigur, 24, has a career-high WTA ranking of No. 46. She has never won a WTA tournament before. Her best result was earlier in 2026 when she reached the third round of Wimbledon. The Beijing tournament is a WTA 1000 event held on hard courts. Among Russian players, the tournament has been won by Maria Kirilenko (2005), Svetlana Kuznetsova (2006, 2009) and Maria Sharapova (2014).
