**Section of Byron Avenue to Close for EAC Works**
A segment of Byron Avenue in central Nicosia will be closed starting Saturday, as the Nicosia Municipality announced that works are set to commence to upgrade the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) transmission network. The closure will take effect at 4 AM on Saturday and is scheduled to last until 5 AM on Monday.
The affected area will include the stretch of Byron Avenue between Griva Digeni Avenue and the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency, specifically in the direction of the Greek Embassy. Additionally, another section of Byron Avenue, extending from the Secretariat to Michalakis Karaolis Street, will also be closed to vehicular traffic.
During the closure, traffic will be redirected to the opposite side of the road. Drivers will be able to return to their normal lane towards Griva Digeni Avenue at the Michalakis Karaolis traffic lights. However, only left turns will be permitted at Michalakis Karaolis Street from the ministry of finance side towards Griva Digeni Avenue. Similarly, only right-hand turns from the section continuing from Gladstonos Street will be allowed towards Griva Digeni Avenue.
Despite the road closures, residents will still have access to the affected areas of Byron Avenue. The municipality has advised drivers to pay close attention to temporary signage and to follow the guidance of traffic police. Authorities recommend that motorists consider alternative routes to minimize potential delays during the construction period.
