Opera Paphos, Medieval Castle Square, 7:30pm. One of the most popular operas in the world repertoire, Gaetano Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” (The Elixir of Love), comes to Paphos in a new production combining classical lyric theatre with a contemporary staging approach. The international co-production brings together Armenia’s Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and distinguished lyric artists. The retrospective exhibition “Nikos Kourousis: Labyrinths” is dedicated to the artist’s multidimensional practice. It brings together paintings, video, functional sculpture, installations, and archival and film material, tracing the images, ideas and processes that have shaped Kourousis’s work across different periods and forms. The musical-poetry performance “In the Moonlight” is presented as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme, combining songs by leading Greek composers Hadjidakis, Theodorakis and Mavroudis with poetry by Ritsos, Elytis and Dimoula. Original arrangements by Giorgos Christofi for the Cyprus Guitar Trio, made up of Vasilios Avraam, Giorgos Christofi and Sokratis Leptos, feature prominently, with Maria Andreou performing songs and reciting poetry. Platanistasa, Square, 8:30pm. “Two Drops on the Ground” combines traditional Cypriot music with contemporary composition, presented as part of the Cultural Decentralisation Programme. The concert is built around the recent album “Two Drops” by Stelios Papamichael and Stefanos Ioannou, based on Cypriot verse and the local musical idiom. Tonight, September 4, Stelios Rokkos and Elena Panagiotidou take the stage, followed by Eleonora Zouganeli on September 5, Petros Iakovidis on September 6, and the festival closes on September 7 with Christos Mastoras and the band Melisses.
