**Seven Arrested in Overnight Police Operations**
In a series of overnight operations on Sunday, law enforcement officials in Cyprus made seven arrests for various offenses, including impersonation, assault, driving under the influence of alcohol, and causing disturbances. The police reported these incidents on Monday, highlighting the extensive measures taken to ensure public safety.
During the operation, officers conducted checks on 504 drivers and 194 passengers. In addition to these traffic stops, 41 premises were inspected, leading to 11 complaints regarding various violations. The police's proactive approach aimed to deter criminal activities and maintain order in the community.
Traffic enforcement was a significant focus of the operation, resulting in 297 reports for a range of violations. Among these, speeding was the most common offense, accounting for 151 of the recorded violations. In response to the infractions, authorities impounded 13 vehicles to prevent further unlawful driving.
As part of their efforts to combat drunk driving, police conducted 202 breathalyser tests throughout the night. This resulted in eight individuals being reported for drink-driving offenses. Additionally, two drivers tested positive in preliminary roadside drug tests, with these cases currently under investigation.
