**SIMOU AGROFEST 2026: A Celebration of Agricultural Tradition, Local Products, and Culture**
Simou, Cyprus – The annual Simou Agrofest is set to take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Simou Square, promising a vibrant celebration of agricultural heritage, local products, and cultural traditions. The event will run from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, featuring a wide array of activities for all ages.
The festival will officially kick off at 11:00 AM, with live radio coverage provided by Zenith FM from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, ensuring that those unable to attend in person can still partake in the festivities.
One of the highlights of the event is the experiential children's workshop titled "Kneading and Baking Cookies," hosted by Giorgoula Christodoulou’s Traditional Workshop from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This engaging session will offer free treats for participating children, making it a delightful experience for families.
Throughout the day, attendees can explore an Agricultural Products and Crafts Exhibition, which will be open from 11:15 AM to 7:00 PM. This exhibition will showcase local produce, crafts, and traditional agricultural tools, allowing visitors to appreciate the rich agricultural heritage of the region.
At 12:00 PM, traditional agricultural demonstrations will commence, featuring wheat threshing and grinding, providing a glimpse into the historical farming practices of the area. Additionally, a mascot, a rooster, will entertain young attendees from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
The festival will also include welcome speeches from the President of the Community Council and the President of the Cultural Association of Expatriates and Friends of Simou at 1:15 PM, followed by traditional dances from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, showcasing the local culture and community spirit.
For children, the "Kids’ Corner" will be available from 1:45 PM to 3:45 PM, featuring painting and games with the festival mascot, ensuring that younger attendees have a fun and engaging experience.
From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Alineri Dairy will conduct an experiential workshop on making and cutting trachanas, with free treats offered to participants. This will be followed by a series of live music performances by Stefanos Pelekanis from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, providing a festive atmosphere for attendees.
Additional experiential workshops will take place throughout the afternoon, including pottery making from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, halloumi and anari cheese making from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and a workshop on making palouzes from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, all featuring free samples for participants.
As the day draws to a close, a closing ceremony will be held from 6:45 PM to 7:00 PM, wrapping up a day filled with cultural and agricultural celebrations.
In addition to the scheduled activities, the festival will feature local producers' stalls, an exhibition of traditional delicacies, and displays of farm animals and historical photos of Simou. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy mini-train rides and horseback rides, along with guided tours of the festival grounds.
Craft demonstrations will include traditional skills such as sarka broom tying, basket weaving, worry-bead (komboloi) making, reed flute (pithkiafli) making, pottery, and loom (voufa) and crochet (smili) weaving, allowing visitors to engage with the region’s artisanal heritage.
Food and drink will be abundantly available at various stalls, with on-site preparation of fresh kattimerka by Chryso Lefou, ensuring that visitors can savor the local flavors throughout the day.
