According to the same report, Starmer’s precarious position, gradually pushing him towards an untenable position over the past few months, took a dramatic turn for the worst, when his main opponent, Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, won an MP seat earlier this week, which will allow him to contest the leadership of the Labour party. The Observer further claims that Starmer came to the realisation that his position was no longer viable, following advice by ministers, donors and close confidantes. The British PM appears to have discussed the possibility of resignation with his wife at the country house in Chequers before making final decisions, with high ranking officials of the Labour part expecting him to make his intentions clear by tomorrow. On Friday, the embattled Starmer said he was ready to face any leadership challenge and called on his party not to dissolve itself through internal strife. According to The Observer, the PM failed to deliver on his promises of better living conditions and if he is forced to resign, Britain will be naming its 7th leader in less than a decade, the most in almost two centuries. The UK appears to be in social turmoil-over migration, public service inadequacies and system failures, with citizens anger demanding change. More than 100 Labour PMs, a quarter of its House of Commons presence, have demanded Starmer’s resignation.
