**Ten Arrested Overnight, 95 Booked for Speeding in Police Crackdown**
In a significant overnight operation aimed at combating criminal activity, Cyprus police arrested ten individuals for various offences, including impersonation, illegal residence, assault, and illegal possession of tobacco products. The operation took place in urban areas and was part of a broader initiative to enhance public safety and enforce the law.
During the extensive police operation, officers stopped and checked a total of 554 vehicles, scrutinizing both drivers and 168 passengers. The enforcement efforts resulted in seven drivers being apprehended for drink driving, while two others were found to be driving under the influence of drugs. Additionally, law enforcement officials issued 95 speeding tickets, highlighting a continued concern over traffic violations in the region.
The crackdown also saw the impounding of nine vehicles, which were taken off the roads as part of the enforcement measures. In total, 291 individuals were reported for various traffic violations, and eight others were identified as having pending investigations related to traffic offences.
In addition to the traffic-related checks, police conducted inspections of local establishments, leading to four reports being filed for unspecified violations.
