**The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation Launches New Publication: "Cyprus Insula – History, Memory, Reality"**
Nicosia, Cyprus – On Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 19:00, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation (BoCCF) will unveil its latest publication, "Cyprus Insula – History, Memory, Reality." This volume coincides with the exhibition of the same name, which is currently on display at the foundation. The publication marks a significant relaunch of the BoCCF's publishing program and serves as a comprehensive documentation of the exhibition's diverse collection.
The "Cyprus Insula" exhibition features over two hundred exhibits that encompass a wide range of artifacts, including archaeological finds, folk art objects, contemporary artworks, and immersive digital applications. Additionally, the exhibition showcases heirlooms and archival materials that collectively narrate the rich cultural history of Cyprus.
The publication includes twelve original essays contributed by a variety of academics, cultural professionals, and writers. These essays draw from personal experiences, scholarly research, and reflections on the Cypriot experience, exploring the historical events and circumstances that have shaped Cyprus's cultural identity. The essays aim to foster a broader discussion that transcends the confines of the exhibition space and time, encouraging a multitude of perspectives and narratives.
The launch event will feature presentations by Anna Marangou and Dr. Athanasios Vionis, who will share their insights and reflections on the publication. Marangou, an archaeologist and art historian, has a notable background in organizing exhibitions and cultural initiatives focused on Cyprus’s heritage. Dr. Vionis is an Associate Professor in Byzantine and post-Byzantine Archaeology and Art at the University of Cyprus, and he previously served as the Director of the Archaeological Research Unit from 2020 to 2024.
Following the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book at a special discounted price. The event will also include a wine and cheese reception, allowing guests to engage with the authors and other attendees in a relaxed setting.
The publication is edited by Dr. Yiannis Toumazis and Demetra Ignatiou, with design work by Popi Pissouriou. The book’s copy-editing and proofreading were handled by Stavros G. Lazarides, while exhibition photography was captured by Kyriakos Xristodoulides. The printing was managed by Kailas Printers and Lithographers Ltd, and the bookbinding was completed by the Artistic Bookbinding Workshop K. Serpetinis. The original texts featured in the publication come from a range of contributors, including Dr. Jennifer M. Webb, Dr. Nicoletta Demetriou, and others.
The typeface used for the title of both the exhibition and the publication, "Ghost Town," was designed by Omiros Panagides and Vassilis Georgiou.
The launch event will take place at the Andreas Patsalides Lecture Hall, located at 86-90 Faneromenis Street, 1011 Nicosia.
