The concert “Sto Fos tou Mariou Toka” (“In the Light of Marios Tokas”) will present the great hits of the Cypriot songwriter, performed by the TrakArt orchestra with soloists Rita Antonopoulou and Giannis Dionysiou, and the participation of the “Diastasi” vocal ensemble. The beloved hits, cherished by generations of Greeks, will be heard with a new, contemporary take. The new arrangements are by Neoklis Neofytidis and conductor Aris Antoniadis, who will lead the full TrakArt orchestra. The musical performance “Pou ‘nai ta Chronia” (“Where Have the Years Gone”), dedicated to the work of the great Greek composer Stavros Kougioumtzis, is presented as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. Performed by Dimitris Fanis, who also curates the show’s music, and Marina Verzanli, accompanied by Aristos Christodoulou (piano), Charalambos Dimitriou (percussion), Costas Challoumas (acoustic bass), Charalambos Pantelis (guitar), Giorgos Dimitriou (bouzouki) and Michalis Karakatsanis (accordion). Titled “Exo ap’ ton Chrono, Kato ap’ to Feggari tou Oxyrrygchou” (“Outside of Time, Under the Moon of Oxyrhynchus”), this year’s event by the Department of Antiquities of the Deputy Ministry of Culture draws inspiration from an ancient myth that has travelled through the centuries. Under the August moon rising over the Odeon and the Paphos lighthouse, audiences are invited to watch a musical narrative performance featuring the ensemble’s bouzouki quartet, and to learn about the constellations that guided travellers, sailors and visionaries for thousands of years. The tour of the starry Paphos sky will be led by the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation. THEATRE Paphos, Val’s Place, Yialia, Friday 28 & Saturday 29 August. The work “Chain Reaction: One Place After the Other” by visual artist Christina Papakyriakou is an installation with participatory and performative elements exploring the loss of space and demolition, from everyday urban change to forced displacement. Inspired by Limassol’s continuous redevelopment, it treats “place” as unstable. Handmade dominoes carry memory and transition. The artist activates the work before inviting the audience to interact with it. The piece was created as part of theYard.Residency.26, by the MITOS Performing Arts Centre. The 2nd Larnaca Festival, organised by the Larnaca Cinema Club, runs four days of screenings, films, music, workshops and tours through parks, squares and neighbourhoods from 27 to 30 August.
