The Larnaca Cinema Club’s 2nd Larnaca Festival runs for four days, from August 27 to 30, with screenings, films, music, workshops and tours of parks, squares and neighbourhoods. The festival opens today with a concert by the Aurora String Quartet performing music from films that left their mark on world cinema, under the artistic direction of Artemisia Vasiliou. This is followed at 8.30pm by a screening of “La Belle Epoque” at Larnaca Municipal Garden. Victor, a disillusioned man in his sixties, sees his life turned upside down the day he meets Antoine, a brilliant entrepreneur who introduces him to a new kind of attraction: a blend of theatrical trickery and historical re-enactment through which Antoine’s company lets clients immerse themselves in any period of their choosing. Victor chooses to return to the week that has stayed with him most vividly: the one 40 years ago when he met the love of his life.
