THEATRE Nicosia, School for the Blind Amphitheatre, 9pm. “Τακούνια στον Βάλτο” (“Heels in the Swamp”) by Akis Dimou, one of the most significant contemporary Greek playwrights, is being staged in Cyprus from July 23 to 25 as part of a summer tour. A pop political comedy with biting humour and fast pace, directed by Manolis Dounias and Aimilios Cheilakis. The touring production by EThAL and Anyhow continues, bringing Molière’s timeless “The Would-Be Gentleman” to postwar 1970s Cyprus. Adapted into the Cypriot dialect and directed by Achilleas Grammatikopoulos, the cast includes Christopher Greco, Valentina Sofokleous, Yiorgos Evagorou, Andreas Londou, Dimitra Hatzigianni, Maria Constantinou, Stavriana Kadi and Achilleas Grammatikopoulos. The hilarious comedy “Out of Order” by British farce master Ray Cooney, produced by the Satirical Theatre and directed by Marianna Kavkaridou and Vassilis Michael, brings one of modern theatre’s best-loved and most successful comedy setups to the stage. A brand-new play by Lena Kitsopoulou, written specially for Theatro Dentro. “Βλαβερές συνέπειες του καπνού” (“The Harmful Effects of Tobacco”), directed by Costas Silvestros, takes its starting point from Chekhov’s one-act play of the same name. She plays a woman trapped in a stalled career, broke and disillusioned by her relationships, who tries to reinvent herself through social media while taking a job as an entertainer at a tourist resort.
