The performance takes as its starting point a well-known observation by photographer Philippe Halsman: that when you ask someone to jump, their attention shifts to the act of jumping and the mask falls, revealing the real person. The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation’s FANEROMENI ’26 Arts Festival opens this year with a performance combining narration, music and the power of oral tradition. The musical-narrative production “MYTHOS – From Cyprus to the World” invites audiences on a journey through myths, songs and stories that cross places and cultures. Soprano Mariza Anastasiadi, in the role of Memory, and actor Petros Yiorkatzis, in the role of Myth, converse through speech, song and performance, with the Concordia String Quartet providing live musical accompaniment to the staged narration.
