MUSIC Paralimni, Kyriakou Pelagia Municipal Amphitheatre, Wednesday 12 August, 9pm (part of the Paralimni-Deryneia Municipal Music Festival). Beloved singer-songwriter Alkinoos Ioannidis returns to the stage with a refreshed musical offering, joined by four acclaimed Cypriot musicians. The new arrangements, built around string and percussion sounds, cast fresh light on songs spanning his entire recording career. Performing alongside him are Marios Takousis (keyboards), Lefteris Moumtzis (bass), Yiannis Koutis (oud, guitar, percussion) and Nikolas Tsangaris (drums). A music and dance performance dedicated to Cypriot musical tradition is presented by Michalis and Petros Koulioumis, as part of the Deputy Ministry of Culture’s 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. Performers include Michalis Koulioumis (violin), Petros Koulioumis (voice, laouto) and Eleni Koki (santouri), alongside the Dionysos Cultural and Dance Club and the Ierous Kipous Cultural Club, who frame the music with traditional Cypriot dance presentations. A tribute to rebetiko song — recognised by UNESCO as an element of humanity’s Intangible Cultural Heritage — is offered by the musical performance “Rebetiko – World Cultural Heritage”, presented as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. The production features acclaimed rebetiko performer Yiorgos Tzortzis, whose many years of experience and deep knowledge of rebetiko lend the show authenticity and artistic weight. Performers include Konstantina Fella (vocals, baglamas, violin), Panayiota Fella (vocals, percussion), Michalis Fellas (vocals, bouzouki), Kyriakos Georgiadis (vocals, guitar), Angelos Ioannou (vocals, bouzouki) and Yiorgos Tzortzis (vocals, baglamas). An experiential journey into memory, time and transformation is offered by “Frear”, a contemporary dance performance by Selas Dance Company, being presented throughout August in six Cypriot communities as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. Research and choreography are by Maria Kamberi, with music composition and live performance by Dimitris Yiasemidis, alongside dancer Apollonas Anastasiadis and Sotos Charalambous on sound and lighting.
