**Third Arrest Made in Famagusta Drugs Bust**
Famagusta, Cyprus – A significant development in a major drug investigation has occurred with the arrest of a 37-year-old man on Tuesday. This arrest is part of an ongoing inquiry by local police into a substantial seizure of narcotics in the Famagusta district.
The police operation led to the discovery of over six kilograms of cannabis resin and one kilogram of synthetic cannabis powder, commonly referred to as kief. The 37-year-old was apprehended under a court warrant and is slated to appear before the Famagusta district court later today.
This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals connected to this drug trafficking case to three. Two other suspects are currently in custody, having been placed under eight-day detention orders by the court. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug operation, with a focus on understanding the roles of each individual involved.
The police reported that the investigation centers on the seizure of 6.373 kilograms of cannabis resin alongside the one kilogram of kief. As part of the ongoing inquiry, officers from the drugs squad (Ykan) are conducting further examinations to ascertain the origin and intended destination of the narcotics. Kief is known to be predominantly produced in North African countries, particularly Morocco.
Authorities are expected to continue their efforts in gathering evidence and determining the full scope of the operation, as they work to dismantle the network involved in the trafficking of these illegal substances. The investigation remains active, and police have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests as they delve deeper into the case.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the community remains vigilant regarding drug-related activities, and law enforcement is committed to addressing the challenges posed by narcotics trafficking in the region.
