**Toyota and Lexus Maintain Stronghold in Electric Vehicle Market**
Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has reported significant advancements in its electrification strategy during the first half of 2026, showcasing a robust increase in sales of its all-electric models. In a competitive automotive landscape, the company achieved total sales of 633,617 vehicles across Europe, which translates to a 7.0 percent market share.
A key highlight of TME's performance is the notable growth in electrified vehicle sales, which includes hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Overall sales in this category surged by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 549,332 units. This impressive figure means that electrified models now represent 87 percent of TME's total sales, marking a record high and an increase of nine percentage points from the first half of 2025.
The all-electric segment has shown particularly remarkable growth, with sales of BEVs soaring by 113 percent. Currently, electric vehicles account for 11 percent of the company’s total sales in Europe. The rising demand for models such as the Toyota bZ4X, Toyota C-HR+, Urban Cruiser, and the newly introduced bZ4X Touring has played a significant role in this growth.
In addition to passenger vehicles, Toyota Professional also reported solid performance in the commercial vehicle sector. The company sold 76,788 units from its Hilux and Proace line-ups, capturing a 6.1 percent market share. Notably, the electric versions of the Proace and Proace City saw sales increases of 37 percent and 47 percent, respectively. The introduction of the new Proace Max BEV and Hilux BEV has further diversified Toyota's offerings in the commercial electric vehicle market.
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury division, mirrored this positive trend with sales of 41,154 vehicles in Europe. A striking 96 percent of Lexus's sales now comprise electrified models, underscoring the brand's commitment to sustainability. The new LBX Hybrid emerged as the top-selling model with 13,236 units sold, while the all-electric RZ experienced a 43 percent increase in sales compared to the first half of 2025.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards electrification, both Toyota and Lexus are positioning themselves as leaders in this transition. The companies are expanding their range of electrified technologies, catering to the growing consumer demand for sustainable mobility solutions.
